This is our final day of Spring Awakening. I am really excited to end with a Pranayama sequence designed to awaken your energy centres, connect with your subtler energies and prepare you for a deep state of meditation.
This is a journey inwards, a gentle exploration of the vital force that flows within us. We will be working with Ujjayi breath throughout the majority of this practise, this breath helps us to create a deeper connection to our inner self.
Ujjayi breath, often called 'victorious breath' or 'ocean breath,' offers many benefits:
- It helps to slow down the heart rate and reduce stress, calming down your nervous system.
- This helps to warm the body and improve circulation.
- The sound of the breath acts as a point of concentration, helping to quiet the mind.
- The breath helps to draw our attention inward, fostering a deeper sense of self-awareness.
- In a gentle way, it can help to bring the body back into a state of balance.
Please release out of the breath if you feel the following sensations:
- If you feel any strain or discomfort in your throat, ease up on the constriction. The sound should be soft and effortless.
- If you feel dizzy or lightheaded, stop the Ujjayi breath and return to normal breathing.
- While Ujjayi is generally calming, some people may find it initially stimulating. If you feel increased anxiety, return to normal breathing.
- If you develop a headache, stop the Ujjayi breath and rest.
I wish you a wonderful exploration of the breath!
Much Love
